Joseph “jo” Blake is an artist, educator, and choreographer whose work bridges performance, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement. A former company member of Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company (2003–2013), he has performed internationally in works by renowned choreographers, including Alwin Nikolais, Doug Varone, and Wayne McGregor.
As the Director of joBdance | a conceptual experience, jo creates immersive performances integrating dance, sound, and visual arts. His acclaimed projects include coincidences, when we meet up., an evolving choreographic exploration of sensory experience and human connection, and Ballo Conservatio, a sustainability-focused collaboration with photographer Steve Korn.
Currently, jo serves as Dance Program Director and Assistant Professor at Weber State University, where he fosters creativity and inclusivity. His leadership extends to the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company Board of Trustees, Ogden City Arts Advisory Board, and Ogden Musical Theatre. His dedication to the arts has earned him multiple awards, including 2021 Ogden Mayor’s Award for the Arts.
